Oh, My Dior!

Hello, Fashion Junkies' Readers. Today is a bit of an odd day. Since we rarely do any posts like this, we try to hold on doing these written post only for major fashion news. Yet, today felt like one of those days of writing one.

Fashion Junkie Gustavo stumbled upon this YouTube video that chronicles the process of the creation of a certain Haute Couture suit. The suit in question is from John Galliano's Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2011 show. Look No. 5 is the one being chronicled and the one most that lit up not only Gustavo's face but everyone in the show, I am sure of that. (LOL)

Gustavo remembers seeing the pictures of this collection and loving every garment that came down the runway. The references were obvious that it was the very late forties and fifties, and the reference of The New Look. Upon further research for this post, Galliano was inspired by Dior's illustrator René Gruau. The collection itself looks like the illustrations came to life, from the page to the runway. The amount of embroidery and labor that went into it is astonishing. The beadwork throughout the collection used to manipulate the pencil strokes is brilliant.

Collections like this, either Haute Couture or ready to wear, are just simply gorgeous. These clothes are meant to be worn. Meant for the women to be seen in, photographed in and be lived in. I know I will if I had this Look No. 5 in my size. Plus, getting Hair and Makeup done by the world's best in their field Orlando Pita and Pat McGrath.
